ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATIONS & EDUCATION

PTx has worldwide rights to Leukine® (sargramostim).  As the only FDA approved GM-CSF available in the U.S., we believe Leukine offers important and differentiated benefits to cancer patients and are excited by the opportunity to effectively re-introduce it to the oncology community with its current label and future expansion indications.  Despite no commercial support for over a decade, Leukine is currently used in academic centers and group practices throughout the country. 

 

We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and versatile professional who has the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects as part of a small team in a fast-paced environment.  PTx is a dynamic, collaborative, scientifically-driven culture and the successful individual will have broad opportunities to be involved cross-functionally and grow rapidly as the organization evolves. Ability to flex, comfort with ambiguity, and facility with problem-solving are critical as we blaze new paths to bring innovative therapies to patients. 

 

As a critical member of a growing Medical Affairs team, the Associate Director, Scientific Communications & Education will lead the planning, development and execution of a broad range of scientific and medical content including publications, internal training, medical information, field medical resources and external educational materials/programs. This individual will report to the Sr. Director, Medical Affairs at PTx Headquarters in Lexington, MA.  

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Lead the development and execution of a Scientific Communications Plan for Leukine that includes strategic publications, medical education and congress plans.

  • Lead the development of robust publication plan that includes abstracts, posters, presentations and manuscripts.

  • Liaise with external authors as well as internal teams to plan and meet publication development timelines. 

  • Participate in analyses and publication planning for data from real world evidence and health outcomes research studies. 

  • Lead medical information operations including oversight of the call center and the development of medical information responses and content.

  • Lead scientific congress planning and strategy for medical affairs at PTx

  • Lead the development and execution of medical education plans that compliantly align grant strategies with company objectives

  • Organize and develop content for scientific advisory boards, educational material for scientific congresses, medical affairs slide decks, etc.

  • Develop and deliver core medical training material to address internal education and training needs

  • Manage digital publication access for all of PTx

  • Represent medical affairs on the Medical Review Committee and Promotional Review Committee

  • Development and distribution of monthly medical affairs metrics and reports

  • Participates in business planning including input into the overall medical affairs plan.

  • Represent medical affairs on relevant cross-functional teams

  • Maintains clinical and scientific expertise through aggressive self-education, including but not limited to, attendance at relevant congresses, symposia, scientific workshops and through review of key journals. 

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant guidelines, laws, and industry standard best practices

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Strong orientation toward the patient, customer service, and teamwork.  Commitment and passion for fighting cancer and improving patients’ lives.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or related required, Advanced Clinical/Scientific degree preferred (Master’s Degree, PharmD, PhD, MD)

  • 3-5 years relevant experience in Medical Affairs required

  • Hematology/Oncology Experience required

  • Medical communications and publications planning experience preferred

  • Ability to write/edit scientific articles, posters and abstracts with a medically strategic mindset

  • Experience leading and managing projects essential

  • Excellent communications and project management skills; demonstrated ability to synthesize and communicate data effectively

  • Independently motivated, detail oriented and good problem-solving ability

  • Excellent organizational skills, sufficient to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

  • Experience managing external vendors and consultants

  • Sound judgement to ensure integrity and compliance with company policies in all activities and communications

  • Outstanding interpersonal, presentation and communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment

  • Flexibility – can adapt to changing direction as our market knowledge expands

  • Ability to travel 15-25% of the time with some overnight stays

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

 

Compensation and seniority level/title will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Compensation will be comprised of a base salary, performance bonus, equity, and a profit sharing program.  PTx offers a competitive benefit program, including health, vision, and dental insurance, life insurance, a 401(k) matching program, and paid time off.
