Associate Director/Director, Site Project Management Office

PTx has recently acquired global rights to Leukine (Sargramostim). Leukine is the only licensed FDA-approved GM-CSF, and PTx is investing in Leukine to position it for growth. With Leukine, PTx acquired its state-of-the-art Northpointe (NP) manufacturing facility in Lynnwood and we are North of Seattle, just a few minutes from downtown (but far enough out of, traffic and high cost of living in the city!). The Northpointe Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for managing the portfolio of projects, programs, and initiatives that support the Site and Company strategy.  The PMO manages the intake, prioritization, and alignment of project-oriented work at NP, and generates reports on portfolio performance.  In addition, this department supports the execution of cross functional projects through training of staff and a group of project managers.   This position and department reports to the Head of Operations at the Northpointe site and will be a member of the Site Leadership Team.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for management and implementation of the site Project Management program, direct supervision and development of project management staff and direct project management responsibility for key company and site initiatives.

 

Project Management Program

  • Create, continuously improve and ensure effectiveness of the Project Management process

  • Participate in designing, implementing and continuously improving PMO project tools and processes

  • Champions development of a broad Life Cycle Management program on behalf of the site to support functional areas in the development of forward looking strategies

  • Provides support for the execution of cross functional site projects and programs through a group of project managers

  • Develop, implement and manage an effective standardized approach to program/project management with regards to compliance to company standards, schedule milestones, resources, and costs (including capital and expense)

  • Partners with Department Heads to evaluate opportunities for optimization, including business cases, and adaptation to new requirements, feeding the Finance budget and forecasting processes

  • Share best practices and lessons learned

 

Staff Management

  • Leadership of a project management group that is responsible for cross functional programs/projects that are a part of the portfolio

  • Coaches and mentors staff in all aspect of their job performance and career development including training, feedback, rewards and disciplinary action

  • Proactively identifies, assesses, and mitigates operational and organization risks; escalates key risks and issues

 

Provide direct Project Management role in support of key company and site initiatives

  • Provide Leadership and direction to assigned projects through the application of expertise in project management tools and processes

  • Institute comprehensive work breakdown structures for all team deliverable's; track and follow up on implementation of team decisions

  • Ensure high levels of communication with project teams, support resources and management

  • Identify resource and schedule constraints, key risks and issues to be resolved and proactively drive risk mitigation plans

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma and 15+ years of relevant and progressive experience in a highly regulated industry or a Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of relevant and progressive experience in a highly regulated industry.

  • 8+ years of program/project management experience required leading and delivering projects/programs

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) accreditation or similar certification highly preferred

  • Illustrated success as a manager of relevant staff strongly preferred

  • Relevant experience in biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical and/or medical device is highly preferred

  • Ability to interpret and present portfolio/ program/ project data and concepts to senior management and executive staff

  • Willingness to contribute as an independent contributor as a project manager for key company/site projects and as a leader of staff.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and manage others, even if not direct reports

  • Strong quantitative and analytical (technical and business) problem solving skills as well as strong emotional intelligence skills.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including creation of content and delivery.

  • Proficiency with MS office tools
